South Africa encompasses a land of golden beaches, jagged mountains, rich safari plains and barren deserts. The teeming wildlife is as diverse and spectacular as the scenery with everything from elusive leopards and plodding elephants to playful penguins. If the landscape sounds diverse, wait until you meet the kind people. South Africa boasts eleven official languages mostly drawn from its warm indigenous population while the colonialist legacy added Afrikaners, English and Indians into the mix. This blend has created a wonderful array of culture for the volunteers to experience at the southern tip of Africa. Also abundant wildlife is South Africa's major attraction with the world famous Kruger National Park delivering uniquely African sights and sounds. South Africa is affectionately known as the Rainbow Nation that has a bright harmonious future for all.
